Two months before the planned introduction of the deposit system, the government decided to postpone the implementation date of the changes. According to the plan, from January 1, 2025, plastic bottles up to 3 liters, glass bottles up to 1.5 liters and metal cans with a capacity of up to 1 liter were to be covered by the deposit system. The fee for a bottle was to be from 50 groszy to 1 PLN, depending on the material from which it was made.
According to the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the system is not ready yet and will come into force in the middle of this year at the earliest.
